I would include Pinterest in this commodification. It was almost impossible to read who I had followed. I eventually either quit or got deplatformed from other social media accounts (except one I use for personal reasons) and have been much more stress free. I did start to lose myself.
Substack is different, it reminds me more of what the internet was in the 90s - everyone had their own corner in the world and we were connected by search engines and RSS. Only it makes finding each other much easier.
